PIREP - Stark Avionics

As numerous person, I appreciate pireps from those of you with knowledge about shops you use (whether positive or negative) and like to spread my experience for that deliberation over others as well. After a so-so experience within a recent avionics install, I found myself looking for the best alternate avenue to the installing of a fresh transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The expense of one was high that I actually busted out laughing on the phone as though I were with a comedy bar. He was apparently not as amused because i. I was telling the storyline of my local quote with a friend in the airport and that he recommended i call John Stark at Stark Avionics to get a quote. In doing my research ahead of calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps for the shop. In doing this, I came across a totally terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you want you just read it). This pirep caused me serious concern about whether or not to call Stark to get a quote.

I posted a broad query for tips about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and i also spoke in reference to his knowledge of Stark i decided to give John an appointment in line with the two recommendations I coming from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns concerning the negative pirep on MS it comes with I was gun shy based on the previous experience. As they always say, there's two sides to each story and John took his time for it to explain his side to me like me certain he can be prepared to employ someone else who wants to phone him in that way. Our conversation shifted through the pirep to pricing. John i discussed different equipment options, what can best suit my needs/wants along with the flat rate installed price for every option. We ultimately thought we would install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted me a soft price, but was at the start that this number may be slightly higher if the tray was riveted in (numerous Mooneys are). I went to manchester international that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were along with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a really timely manner and confirmed the flat fee price for that equipment and install in writing so we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane ended up being to be dropped off the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said however have everything ready by Tuesday, on the other hand opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in case there was some snags along the way.
